Sharon is a Master's student in the concurrent degree program with the Department of City and Regional Planning and the School of Public Health. She focuses on the health impacts of land use, economic development, and social policies; and the role of the public sector in undoing inequities through local policy decisions. Before returning to graduate school, Sharon spent 4 years working in the field of urban agriculture in Seattle, Washington. From 2005-2006 Sharon worked with Fundación Pro-Habitat in Cochabamba, Bolivia to develop a sustainable system for community management of household solid waste in peri-urban neighborhoods. She graduated from Brown University in 2001 with a BA in Development Studies. Sharon is working with CCI on incorporating faith-based organizations into the equitable development process as part of the Richmond Equitable Development Initiative. She is excited to increase her understanding of affordable housing development and to use her skills in community outreach and coalition-building to increase stakeholder involvement in development issues.
