PARTNERS IN THE SPOTLIGHT

CCI is providing research support and technical assistance to The Great Communities Collaborative (GCC), a unique assemblage of nonprofits dedicated to promoting a vision of sustainable and equitable development for transit-oriented development (TOD) in Bay Area's neighborhoods. In partnership with The Nonprofit Housing Association of Northern California and Reconnecting America, our research focuses on making the case for TOD and mixed-income housing, assessing the region's potential for mixed-income communities around transit stations, and outlining relevant implementation tools. These topics were explored in a day-long event called ; "Are We There Yet:  Bay Area Transit Oriented Communities and Mixed Incomes" hosted at UC Berkeley's Alumni House on March 9th, 2007 and in a complementary framing paper,"Transit Oriented for All: The Case for Mixed Income Transit Oriented Communities in The Bay Area." We are providing direct support for GCC partners in seven planned TODs by honing tailored strategies to advance mixed-income development. The GCC is primarily funded by The San Francisco and the East Bay Community Foundations.
