Jane Rongerude is a doctoral candidate in the Department of City and Regional Planning at UC Berkeley, where she is finishing a dissertation on HOPE VI and the geography of poverty in the U.S. Her research examines how the redevelopment of public housing can be understood in the context of the retrenchment of the welfare state, neoliberal policy reform, and the greater processes of urban change. She has authored multiple articles on public housing, collaboration, and regional governance, with her most recent work published in Urban Affairs Review. Prior to coming to UC Berkeley, she worked for five years in social service organizations in Portland, Oregon. |
